The Imo state governor-elect, Emeka Ihedioha, has warned financial institutions to stop new transactions with the state government, or do so at their own peril. Ihedioha, who said at a media interaction in Owerri on Thursday, said new transactions would increase chances of illegal activities, movements of cash and jeopardise the financial stability of the state, NAN reports. He said his duty and responsibility would be to ensure that citizens and residents of the state remained united and work together for the common good of the state. The governor-elect commended other contestants in the election for their "sportsmanship" and urged them to partner his administration to "restore the dignity of the state". The United States says it is compiling reports on the 2019 general elections with a view to giving a proper response on it. The US said it was actively involved with political happenings in the country, particularly regarding the 2019 election. The US Assistant Secretary of State, Bureau of African Affairs, Tibor Nagy, said this in a telephone press conference on Tuesday. Nothing Must Happen to Usman Okai Austin, CSOs Warn Yahaya Bello.

Civil Society Organizations on Tuesday warned the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello to refrain from the persecution of Usman Okai Austin, a political activist and spokesperson of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council in Kogi State. Usman was reportedly arrested by officers of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Friday February 22n 2019, in Lokoja, Kogi State and is being detained and held without charge.
